BESHStatNG Update v0.3.2: New Agreement Module for Method Comparison & Reliability

A new version of BESHStatNG is now available, and it introduces a major addition: the new Agreement module. This release is focused on method comparison and reliability workflows commonly used in laboratory medicine, medical research, and quality assessment.

What’s new in this release?

  • Agreement module added to the add-in, providing dedicated tools for agreement and reliability analysis.
  • New methods implemented:
    • Passing–Bablok regression (robust, non-parametric method comparison)
    • Deming regression (errors-in-variables regression with configurable error ratio)
    • Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICC) for rater reliability and repeated measurements
  • Updated documentation – full help pages are now available online, including interpretation guidance, mathematical details, and reference R code.

Why these methods matter

Method comparison is a key requirement whenever you evaluate whether two measurement methods can be used interchangeably (or to quantify bias between them). The new Agreement module makes it easy to run these analyses directly in Excel:

  • Passing–Bablok regression provides robust estimates and is especially useful when you want fewer distributional assumptions and better resistance to outliers.
  • Deming regression is ideal when both methods have measurement error and you can justify an error variance ratio (or use the default orthogonal case).
  • Intraclass correlation (ICC) supports standard Shrout–Fleiss ICC families for assessing reliability across raters or repeated measurements, with clear output and interpretation.

Documentation & help pages

To support correct use and interpretation, the corresponding help pages for the Agreement module are available here:

In the help, you’ll find:

  • Step-by-step guidance matching the Excel dialog screens
  • Mathematical background (estimators, confidence intervals, model assumptions)
  • Interpretation notes for slopes/intercepts (bias), ICC types, and reliability thresholds
  • Reference R code using established packages (with notes on expected differences)

Get started

If you already use BESHStatNG, update to the newest version and explore:

  • Agreement → Passing–Bablok regression
  • Agreement → Deming regression
  • Agreement → Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICC)
